After college, but before Korea, I lived in Brooklyn, NY. But when I say "lived" I mean I got dumped, worked at a string of crappy jobs, moved into a room with no windows, bought 5 fans because there was no where to put an air conditioner, and finally called my boss in the middle of the night so that I could sleep on her air conditioned couch with her dog. This is a song about that unforgettable time in my life.
lyrics
I walk the streets of Brooklyn
I wonder what it’s got with me
Cause my poor heart is breakin’
And makin’ plans in spite of me
My heartache has taken
My body’s immunity
Now every bug can get it
And make a home inside of me
Just sing me a lullaby
Sing me a lullaby tonight
Tell me everything’s all right
Tell me that the moon and all the stars
Can fill this room inside my heart
And make me shine
I came to this city to make it
And now it’s makin’ me
A bit too old to stay here
A bit too old to wanna leave
I left my bike on the bridge
It’s something I don’t need
I walked until my legs itched
It makes sense if you just don’t think
Just sing me a lullaby
Sing me a lullaby tonight
Tell me everything’s all right
Tell me that the moon and all the stars
Can fill this room inside my heart
And make me shine
